Three Thanks

I didn’t post my Thanks last week because I was so sick. Perhaps a few of mine this week should be:

1. Breathing
2. Holding steady a temperature within the 98 degree mark
3. Swallowing without daggers piercing themselves into my throat

Nevertheless, I feel that I should have some Thanks that have nothing to do with my disease. I am more than my disease!

Without further ado…my Three Thanks!

1. Easter with my family (and Abi, who’s like family) – Though they all live here in Nashville and I can see them whenever I want, it’s nice to know that I have somewhere to be on the holidays. It’s nice to have people and places to call “home”. It’s nice that for 25 years my mom has made me an Easter basket. That’s right, be jealous…I still get visited by “The Bunny” every year. It’s tradition!

2. Cooking for family and friends – I love cooking! Perhaps I should have been a chef…nah, I guess you have to have more than just the love of cooking to be a chef. You actually have to be a really good cook. Well, attesting to my skills…I haven’t killed anyone or made anyone sick…not yet.

3. Game night with my ladies

Cranium (plus) Apples to Apples (equals) Pure Awesomeness!

We pigged out on pizza and all the junk food you haven’t eaten since your mom packed your lunch. E.L. Fudge cookies, Reese's Cookies, Reese's Peanut Butter Eggs (‘tis the season), Chex Mix – Sweet and Salty, chips with sour cream and onion dip, chocolate chess pie….

Ugh, there was more…but I can’t bare to relive it all. We were fat, happy and jovial. And even got a little but of Mean Girls in…

Oh, I'm eating at Virago tonight! They have 1/2 priced martinis and sushi on Mondays! Monday's at Virago come highly recommended by this cat.

Vodka Tonics...not as light as I thought...

AshenFury and I were discussing the caloric contents of vodka and tonic water (combined to make my fav, a Vodka Tonic) last night. Today, I'm still curious!

This website is very helpful...though, it's telling me that my V 'n' Ts aren't as diet as I thought (about 203 thigh-fattening calories!).

Dear Justin...

...You were everything I thought you'd be...and soo much more.

Thank-you.

Forever yours,

Sarah

~*~

I am sure you have been patiently awaiting my update on the fantastic concert Friday night. Well, here it is!

Ladies, gentlemen...it was the best $80 I have spent in a long, long time. It was every bit as good as I knew it would be. I mean, that boy can sing. He can dance. I'm sure he can act. And he can look hot(t) doing it all.

When we got there Pink was performing. Now, I'm not a big Pink fan. I like the songs she comes out with on the radio, but I have never desired to own one of her CDs. But after seeing her preform live, please understand that she is incredibly talented. Also, she's an acrobat. Not like the circus...like Cirque du Soleil. Like winding herself up in sheets 100 feet above the stage, acrobat. Yeah. Talented. I was impressed.

So then it was time for Justin. There was much anticipation between Tiffany and me.

I also have the distinct feeling that every woman in Nashville of child-bearing age was present at the GEC on Friday night at 7:30.

When the concert started, he just stood on the stage with his band and guitar and Tiffany and I were thinking..."What the heck! We came here to see him dance! Dance, Justin. Dance!"

And then he did.

I think I went comatose for the next two hours.

I am pretty sure that I almost fainted several times. Like when he grinded (and I do mean grinded...extremely sexual...extremely) on his dancers. Yes, heck yes!

It was then that I thought to myself, "Why, God? Why did you not encourage me to keep up my dance lessons?? Look what my life could be like!"

Tiffany and I have decided that we are going to follow his tour. We're giving our two-weeks notice to our respective employers tomorrow and off we go on tour. Good idea? I thought so, too.

Unfortunately, none of my pictures of Justin dancing or grinding turned out. I'll share what I do have, though. Enjoy!

This was before the concert at dinner. We ran into a few friends of ours and absconded with their table...

I asked Tiffany what she wanted to do/show to Justin...she did this...

Before the concert...waiting patiently...and our seats...

Justin playing the piano and dancing...

He just did something very, very naughty...I had to document our faces...

After the concert at Beer Seller

G U E S S W H A T T O N I G H T I S?!

You guessed it!

The time is here...

Justin's in town...mere miles away from me.

Ahhh... :)

In just a few hours, I'll be seein' a little of this...

Definitely some of this...

Oh - God help me, maybe some of this...

And, absolutely none of this...

Three Things

1. Waylaid Plans - Sometimes, we have the "best" plans laid out. Sometimes, they don't work out. And sometimes, that's okay.

2. Shooting Stars - I saw one this weekend and made a wish. Nope, don't even ask, I'm not telling you what I wished for.

3. Mother/Daughter Nights - I went and saw "Because I Said So" at the theatre with my friend Abi, her mom and my mom. We went to dinner beforehand and had a great time! Yea for mom bonding!

I'm eating at Virago tonight. Has anyone been there? Tips, advice on what I should dine on?

Interesting tidbit...Virago means a woman of extraordinary stature, strength and courage. Or, get a plethora of facts like this at Wikipedia.

Three Thanks

Ahh! I'm posting on time this week! You didn't think I would, did you?! My track record hasn't been so good recently, I will agree.

Here are my Three Thanks...in no particular order:

1. The beginnings of Spring - On Sunday, I went to Centennial Park here in Nashville and enjoyed the fantastic weather. Sure, I had to keep my fleece on with my scarf wrapped tightly around my turtleneck sweater...but it was great...and only cold when the wind was blowing. Perhaps it was my apparel that was keeping me warm, or perhaps it was the company...of this, I shan't tell.

Here's a side story...decidedly of no interest to anyone but me...even still, I will write about it before moving on. There are no restrooms at this park. Well, there are...just not good ones. Ladies, you know the offense to which I am referring...Porta-potties. Those disastrous creations that are made to hold excrement in a hole in the ground until someone with a big truck comes to empty it out. Gross.

So, there I was at Centennial Park...really needing to use the restroom. This was my only option. Well, my only viable option. I make the trek to the area where they are located. In front of one of the toilets is a large, metal trashcan with an open top. There is something leaning down into it...it looks like a small cat, perhaps a small raccoon. When it hears me it pops up onto its hind legs. It peers at me with its big brown eyes. It wasn't a cat...nor was it a raccoon. It was an obese squirrel. Quite possibly the biggest, fattest squirrel in existence. When I walked closely by it, it didn't even budge. It was as if to say..."Heh, I could totally take her! I am not moving..."

I opened the door with one finger, sliding the latch to the left oh so carefully. When I walked in, my gag reflex kicked in, as the smell of fecal matter and heated urine immediately invade my nostrils. I glanced down into the toilet (why, I don't know)...and what did I see? Among the Dentyne Ice wrappers, toilet paper and other various sundries...I saw it. Perfectly placed on a piece of TP, it was sitting there. A perfect poo swirl.

After seeing that one squirrel...I was really afraid that one of his mutant friends might be hiding inside the bowl. Much to my luck...no one jumped out at me...

2. My new bedside table - My dad made it for me. I've had one for almost two years now and have been waiting for its mate. Well, it finally arrived from my parents' house Saturday afternoon. Yea!

3. Parties with my girls - I love seeing you ladies. Saturday night was a blast...I can't wait to see pictures!

By the way, people scare me...

Dream a little dream of me

I don't want to delve into the particulars of this dream that I had the other night, but I will share with you what the dream dictionary said about the subjects I dreamt about.

Subject 1:
To see this in your dream, suggests issues with your femininity and your sexual needs/urges.

Subject 2:
To see this in your dream, signifies evil, disaster, and extreme misfortune.

Subject 3:
To dream this, is a reflection of what you may be feeling during your waking life. You may have repressed thoughts, unexpressed emotions, resentment, and hostility that is triggering this type of dream. This dream also denotes that you are disastrously mixing business with pleasure.

So, tell me what y'all think. What are your thoughts about dreams? Can/Should they be interpreted? Was Sigmund Freud right when he said that dreams are a reflection of human desires and prompted by external stimuli? If he is right, what's going on up there in my head??

Another theory is that dreams are metaphorical translations of waking expectations. Expectations which cause emotional arousal that are not acted upon during the day to quell the arousal, become dreams during sleep. Finally, he holds that dreaming deactivates that emotional arousal by completing the expectation pattern metaphorically, freeing the brain to respond afresh to each new day.

Who took off my shirt??

This morning I woke up without my shirt on. I went to sleep with one. Got up in the middle of the night for a glass of water...still wearing one.

But awoke this morning without one.

Who is responsible??

Sure, I have had my bouts with sleep walking but that was a long time ago. I haven't done this in years. Seriously! You can ask Mr. Darcy. He'll vouch for me.

Also, let it be known that I have never had an incidence of sleep stripping. Never.

So, I'll ask nicely once more. Who is responsible for my indecent exposure??

That is all.

Lion King!

I'm going to the Lion King tonight! Be jealous...be very, very jealous!

So, it comes to this...

I haven't posted in quite awhile...and I know I have let you all down immensely.

Will you ever forgive me?

Will any of you come back and start reading again?

This, I suppose, only time will tell.

I have been so bogged down with grad school these past few weeks as one of my classes came to an end. Now, only one remains. And it's a joke of I class, I must say. Oh, and it could be so much better. But it's not. Have I mentioned my professor who chortles? If I have, this is his class. He chortles and has greasy hair.

And I am paying equivalent to two and a half months rent to take it. I love putting things in perspective. Don't you??

I went to Columbus, OH to visit a friend over Halloween. Turned out, I stressed out so much about my costume...I just went the day before and bought a flapper costume. Guess how I picked it out! Give up? It was the only small size remaining...that was semi non-revealing.

Has anyone else noticed this trend? Halloween has all of a sudden become some slut parade. Girls parade around town wearing nothing put underwear, hooker boots and a sword and call themselves a Naughty Pirate. How about the other illustrious ideas I saw: Captain of the Mile High Club, Naughty Referee, Wizard Wanda (a sexy take on Harry Potter costumes), Sexy ladybug and bumble bee costumes, and apparently all the beloved childhood Disney characters can be made sexy. Dirty Dorothy, Little Miss Muffit, Sexy Tin Girl (what?), Sexy Alice in Wonderland, Heidi and Little Bo Peep. It is all really ridiculous. Can't people reserve their indiscretions for the bedroom?

Here's a rule of thumb: If the costume you are wearing came from or is also sold in ForPlayCatalog.com, PinUpGirlCothing.com, ThreeWishesLingerie.com, or bears the Playboy Bunny insignia...leave it in the bedroom. I am sure you have a fantastic body...I'm sure you look great naked...in fact, you practically are naked...so I can tell you do. Just please, for the love of all things decent...don't make me have to see your nearly bare, naked ass.

If we are going to make referees, cops, gangstas, detectives, cooks, boxers, firefighters, Tool Time girls, and army women sexy, what's next?? Here are three I've complied for next year:

Sexy Fast Food Worker
Sexy Garbage Collector
Sexy Tax Accountant

A note to the uncreative: Please feel free to pillage my ideas. I will not be hurt by your blatant disregard for my originality.

Pictures - Mr. Darcy's bath and Saturday night

Pictures as promised. Enjoy.

Mr. Darcy oh so comfortable before his bath. Poor thing...he needed one bad, though.

Peeking out of a towel...

Hahaha - Ahh, um drying off in a towel after the bath. He always acts paralyzed...
Maybe the towel is just too tight...

Hiding under the kitchen table after his bath.

Abi and me.

Again.

Billy and me.

Buckets O' Beer in Pictures

Abi, I promised I would post pictures from our Girl's night. To all others, if you've been keeping up with my blog...which I highly doubt, this is the night from the post Buckets O' Beer.

Amy, this is what you missed!

The night begins. Abi, I think these were from the crazy guys...

Andy took this one, I believe. Do we know the guy in the blue?

Not the best picture we've ever taken...

And we tried again...Is my chin really that pointy?

Amy, do you recognize the guy with the mic? Yeah, you know who that is...

Amy, he's coming for you! It almost looks like he's coming in at a jog...or that he just dismounted a horse...either way...it's all positives from my vantage! :)

Abi, this one is yours! Looking back on it, he was attractive. Humm.

Abi, you need to send me pictures from this past weekend. Since my camera was dead, you have them all. There were some good ones in there from what I recall. Hum, that rhymed.

Buckets O' Beer

Buckets O’ Beer

Talking on the phone to my friend, Abi:

-So, I am going to knock on your door and you’re going to answer it. I am going to judge by your reaction if my outfit looks stupid or not. I’ll take a change of clothes…if you think I look stupid – I’m changing.

-Well, don’t take offense when I laugh! Now I am going to laugh…but it won’t be because your outfit looks stupid…well, at least not initially. It’s just that now I am expecting this…and now it’s just funny.

-Okay, promise me you’ll tell me honestly if I look stupid. I don’t want to look stupid!

-I promise. I promise! Remember, though, I am going to laugh.

-It’s noted. Thanks.

I get to Abi’s (without that change of clothes), she answers the door…and doesn’t laugh. She’s training her dog, Lina, to not jump on people. She won’t even look at me. Oh GOD! She hates my outfit so much so she can’t even look at me! When she finally does, she nods her head in approval and says:

-It’s cute…why are you always so much more dressed up than me?

-I’m not! You’re wearing those cute Rock in Republic jeans I love…and you know how they make your ass look…not to mention that sparkly top you’re wearing is totally cute. I just happen to have on a dress…but we all know that denim is the new wear with all.

We head out to SatCo (San Antonio Taco Company). If you are not from Nashville, or are from Nashville but have never been to SatCo, let me give you a glimpse into what this place is like. It get’s bad ratings all the time – not customer service bad ratings (though this is nothing stellar), not bad reviews from the locals (I’m telling you, it’s a favorite), it gets bad sanitary reviews. But it is so good…it’s worth the potential gastric distress that will happen the next day. And trust me…it is not so much of a “potential” as it is a “promise.”

Two tacos each, cheese dip (sooo good), and a bucket of beer. I can hear my diet blowing past me…but you know what? I ran. Like three miles. I deserve this. Okay, so I would have had to run like 80 miles to even remotely cover what I ate last night…but everyone needs a night off.

We’re sitting there…talking about life, work, friends and guys for probably two hours. Just relaxing, drinking some beer and consuming massive amounts of saturated fat. Our bucket has diminished quite significantly and we are working on our last beer each. This worker comes over. While holding out a bucket of beer he says:

-I was told to deliver this to you ladies.

Our faces must have read so many things; humor, confusion, embarrassment…

-Who sent it over?

-I was told not to say.

-Umm okay, well thanks then.

Abi and I look at each other and laugh…how bizarre. We look around for someone to make his way over but no one comes. We look for any sign from anyone that would say… “Hey! I sent those beers over to you!” But we could find no facial expression that would signify such thoughts. I feel weird opening the first beer, not because I thought it was contaminated or poisoned with the date rape drug…but because it was just awkward…no one had come over yet to claim his good deed.

And no one did come over.

Finally, Abi in utter defiance says:

-Oh what the Hell.

Grabs the bottle opener and cracks open a cold one. The table behind her starts to snicker. There are four guys there are two girls. I figure they were the ones that bought the bucket or they heard the guy come over and present it to us and just thought the situation was funny. I leaned more towards them having purchased, though it was weird since they were in mixed company.

Let’s just be honest, the whole situation was weird.

So, Abi and I start drinking our free beer and the table gets up to leave. One of the guys walks past our table, brushing up against me (when there was plenty of room) and says:

-Enjoy your beer ladies.

Just like that. Very nonchalant.

Then this other guy walks up to me from the side, gets down into my ear and whispers:

-You’re everything that I’ve dreamed of. You’re perfect. (Loosely translated…can’t remember the exact wording)

Then they left. Without another word, they were gone. That was it. They spent $11 on a bucket of beer for two ladies that they couldn’t even get the guts to say “Hi” to. What idiots. Good luck in the future guys. You’ll really go far with that plan of action…or rather…no action.

Abi and I put the remaining four into my purse and headed for the Stage.

PS – I feel gross that I had six beers. GROSS.

My Favorite Places - Nashville

Since I went to Belmont, I like anything close to that area.

Jackson's is always a nice place to sit and talk with friends.

If you haven't been to Pancake Pantry yet, you must go right now...stop reading this and go get their Sweet Potato pancakes!

Tin Roof is a fun night spot, well, the whole Demonbreun area is fun (Dan McGuinness, Christopher Pizza, and Caffine).

Calypso Cafe has the best salads in the world - and they aren't expensive (try the Black Bean salad or the Cayan Chicken Salad).

Centennial Park is a blast and a great place to people watch. Bring bread to feed the birds by the pond!

The Frist is nice...I don't go as much as I would like to and I have always wanted to go to this thing called Frist Fridays. Some friends of mine say it's interesting and different that a normal Friday night.

If you like sushi - Ru Sans is spectacular! There is this one with banana in it (sounds gross - but trust me...it is amazing).

The Natchez Trace is beautiful...especially in the fall. All the leaves turn flaming orange and red making the mountains (okay big hills) look like they are on fire.

I haven't been to this next place since high school but Lover's Circle has a beautiful view of downtown. In HS we used to go up there and make a lot of noise to disturb the people making out. Ahh immaturity! :)

The downtown library. I suggest going as it's a wonderful place to get lost in the day. But I like to read...so this might be biased.

Continuingwith the reading theme - Border's on West End. I haven't been back there since I saw this really small man fall down the stairs but I used to like going there...

I like painting pottery. If you do...BrushFire Pottery is a great place to do it!

The Greenhouse in Green Hills is a fun place to relax with friends.

And I love Crockett Park - it's about two miles from where I live in Brentwood so I go there to run. Every Sunday in the summer they host a great concert series and on July 4th this is where they shoot off the fireworks. This is a great place to view them if you don't want to fight the downtown maddness.

That's all that I can think of for now! Let me know what else I should try!
