Eating Those With Faces....

I'm thinking about going vegetarian (with the exception of fish).

What are your thoughts?

Is anyone out there a vegetarian? Does anyone have any helpful advice?

I can go for days on plants and grains (and sugar, of course!) but sometimes I just need a good slab of muscle.

I admire your intentions though. Keep us posted on your decision.

I know people that have done it for years...one huge plus for you is that you won't lack protein provided peanut butter remains a staple in your diet! Personally I can't go without a good piece of meat!

DO IT! In fact, go all the way and give up fish! You'll find that once you get away from all those foods for long enough, you'll crave them less as well.

I'd be happy to help you in your endeavor. My name is Adam, I have a webpage for the veg-curious such as yourself at www.VeganAdam.com

If you have any questions about going vegetarian or anything is going wrong, call me up at (402) 714-9503 and I'll help you out

Good luck

Adam

hey sarah! i have struggled with the "meat thing" for a couple of years now - giving it up completely, then adding fish, and most recently, trying pork and chicken again on one-time, crazy impulses. i too seem to be at that place of deciding if i am going to maintain this half-hearted commitment to it, or take the steps necessary to make a full commitment. i think at the end of the day, we all know that meat is not necessary for our diets, and i think that any attempts a person makes to limit their intake is smart - morally, physically, and socially. if you eat a lot of meat right now, i would suggest cutting out something obvious (red meat!) for awhile and see how you feel. you can practice new recipes and substitutions (www.vegcooking.com)and see what you think. good luck, if you do decide to make the change! :) (sorry for the long post..)

Thanks for all your well wishes! I'm pretty sure, after thinking it over during the weekend, that I am going to do it. I've had no meat today. I'll keep everyone up to date on my progress and pitfalls. You must all promise to give me encouragement! :) I don't feel that it will be too difficult, I don't eat much meat right now anyway.

Adam - Thanks for your help! I'll definitely check your website out!

Jenny - Thanks for the cooking website! Having an "odd" diet will make it hard to just grab something out. I'll probably have to do a little more cooking than I do right now.

VINCENT
You want some bacon?

Sarah
No, man, I don't eat pork.

VINCENT
Are you Hippie?

Sarah
No, I ain't Hippie, i just don't dig on meat, that's all.

VINCENT
Why not?

Sarah
Pigs are animals. I don't eat animals.

VINCENT
But bacon tastes good, pork chops taste good...

Sarah
Hey, sewer rat may taste like pumpkin pie,
But I'd never know 'cause I wouldn't eat the motherfuckers.
Pigs sleep and root in shit, that's a filthy animal.
I don't eat nothin' that ain't got sense enough to disregard its own feces.

VINCENT
How about a dog? A dog eats its own feces

Sarah
I don't eat dog either

VINCENT
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal?

Sarah
I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy, but it's definately dirty.
But, dogs got personality, personality goes a long way.

VINCENT
So by that rationale, if a pig had a better personality, he would cease to be a filty animal. Is that true?

Sarah
We' have to be talkin' 'bout one charmin' motherfuckin' pig.
I mean he'd have to be ten times more charmin' than that Arnold on Green Acres, you know what I'm sayin'? Oh btw, here's the three things I'm grateful for this week too.
